Anker, a household name for phone accessories and charging solutions, has faced a string of product issues in 2024. While renowned for reliable gadgets, the company has experienced an unfortunate streak this year, issuing recalls due to safety hazards. Recently, Anker announced yet another recall of its power banks, which follows previous product withdrawals earlier in the year.

Multiple Power Banks at Risk

The latest recall involves three power bank models: the Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K), Anker 20,000mAh Power Bank, and Anker 10,000mAh MagGo Power Bank. These devices are equipped with potentially hazardous internal batteries, posing risks of overheating, smoke emissions, and even fire. Notably, the MagGo models, which are designed specifically for iPhone users, make this recall particularly alarming for Apple customers.

Anker’s quick response to these safety concerns has been swift, urging users to discontinue the use of the affected power banks immediately. The company’s statement attributes the fault to a “previous supplier,” and claims to have since switched to a more reliable manufacturer to prevent future issues.

Anker’s Troubling Recall History

Although Anker emphasizes that only a small percentage of units—produced between January and September 2024—carry defective batteries, the recall affects all units as a precaution. This marks the second time this year Anker has taken such drastic measures. Back in June, Anker recalled several other products, including the Soundcore A3102 speaker and the 321 Power Bank, for similar safety risks. The recurrence of these recalls is casting a shadow over Anker’s reputation.

What This Means for Consumers

Anker’s power banks have long been a go-to for many users, but the repeated safety recalls raise serious concerns. While the company works to address these issues, users are left wondering if they can still trust the brand. Although Anker has pledged to resolve the defects, its recent track record may give some customers pause before making future purchases.

Next Steps for Affected Users

If you own one of the affected power banks, Anker advises stopping usage immediately. Customers can follow Anker’s instructions to return the products and receive a replacement or refund. With the risks involved, it’s crucial to act quickly to avoid any potential danger.
