The much-anticipated Made by Google event is just days away, where four new Pixel 9 smartphones are set to be unveiled. Despite numerous leaks already circulating, a major slip-up by Vodafone UK has prematurely revealed the pre-order details and pricing for the upcoming devices.
Vodafone UK’s Pre-Order Offer: A Closer Look
The leak, first highlighted by Roland Quandt on X (formerly Twitter), showcased a dedicated page for Vodafone UK’s “Google Storage Intro Offer.” This page outlined what early adopters in the UK can expect when purchasing the new Pixel 9 series through the network.
In summary, the offer appears to be an enhanced version of a similar deal previously announced in France. While the French offer included a free Pixel Watch 3, the UK deal focuses on generous storage upgrades. Here’s a breakdown of the storage deals for each model:
- Pixel 9: Upgrade to 256GB for the price of 128GB.
- Pixel 9 Pro: Choose between 256GB and 512GB, both available at the price of the lower capacity.
- Pixel 9 Pro XL: Offers 256GB, 512GB, and even 1TB for the price of 512GB.
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold: 512GB for the price of 256GB.
Pricing Details and Confusions
Vodafone UK’s preliminary pricing also surfaced in the leak, showing a range from £750 ($957) for the 128GB Pixel 9 to £1,850 ($2,360) for the 512GB Pixel 9 Pro Fold. However, there are some inconsistencies in the pricing for models with multiple capacities. For instance, the 512GB Pixel 9 Pro XL is listed at £1,130 during the offer period to match the 256GB version, but another section indicates the lower capacity model will be £1,202 post-offer.
To simplify the information, here’s a chart with the decoded prices and approximate dollar conversions. Note that UK prices include VAT (20%), and price differences between regions are not unusual for Google.
