As excitement builds for the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event, attention is mainly on the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 6. However, rumors about the Galaxy S series are also heating up, even with its launch still a way off. A while back, a tipster hinted at upgrades for the ultrawide and zoom cameras in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Now, another significant leak has emerged, providing key insights into the upcoming camera enhancements for the S series.
Galaxy S25 Ultra to Feature New Camera Sensor Upgrades
Tipster Sperandio4Tech has highlighted two major changes in the camera setup for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Although specific names are yet to be confirmed, the ultrawide lens is expected to adopt a 1/2.76-inch JN1 sensor. This is a shift from the 1/2.55-inch sensor in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Despite being smaller, the new ultrawide sensor will support a higher resolution, increasing from 12MP to an impressive 50MP.
Additionally, the 3x telephoto lens is set to upgrade to a 1/3-inch Isocell sensor, significantly larger than its predecessor. This lens will also see a substantial resolution boost, moving from 10MP to 50MP.
Enhancements in Camera Hardware and Algorithms
While the hardware improvements are notable, the development of camera algorithms is ongoing to further enhance the camera’s quality and capabilities. The S24 Ultra’s algorithm improved picture quality and stabilization, achieving significant refinement through upscaling. With the S25 Ultra’s release still some time away, more information about the camera layout is likely to emerge, providing further clarity on the hardware changes. If Samsung proceeds with these upgrades, the higher megapixel sensors could significantly elevate image quality, potentially receiving positive feedback from users.
Expected Features for the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus
The Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus are expected to see fewer changes compared to their predecessors. Both models are rumored to retain a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto lens. The S25 series is anticipated to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, which might lead to a price increase due to its enhanced performance and AI integration focus. While other details remain unclear, Samsung’s camera improvements are likely to help the new S series distinguish itself from earlier models.
