Forza Horizon 5 Latest Update Takes You on a Trip to the 90s

Forza Horizon 5 is about to rev its engines for a nostalgic ride back to the 90s. Playground Games has announced an exciting update, packed with rewards, retro flair, and returning fan-favorite features. Whether you’re a veteran of the series or a newcomer, this content drop promises to bring back memories of an iconic era.

A Blast from the Past

On October 10, Forza Horizon 5 players can look forward to unlocking four classic cars straight out of the 90s. The lineup includes the Aston Martin Lagonda (1990), Subaru SVX (1996), Toyota Soarer 2.5 GT-T (1997), and the Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R (1998). These aren’t just collectibles; they’re powerful additions for players looking to conquer the game’s expansive open world.

In addition to the new cars, the update introduces a 90s-themed Festival Playlist. This special playlist features a range of challenges, events, and races that capture the spirit of the decade. Players will also be able to search for a VHS Collectible, don the 90s Cosmetic Outfit, and unlock three new Badges as they navigate the world of Forza Horizon 5.

The Return of a Fan-Favorite

The biggest highlight for many car enthusiasts is the return of Horizon Backstage, a popular feature from previous Forza Horizon entries. This mode allows players to grab exclusive reward cars that were previously locked behind Festival Playlists. Kicking off with six initial cars, the community will then vote on which cars will be featured every week. Notably, some of Forza’s fastest cars—once out of reach for many—are making a comeback, fueling anticipation among players.

For access to Horizon Backstage, players will need to collect Backstage Passes, a new in-game currency. One Pass will be available each week as a seasonal reward, and additional passes can be bought using Forzathon Points.

Patch Fixes and Improvements for a Smoother Ride

This update isn’t just about new content—it also addresses several bugs and gameplay improvements. From color correction issues on the 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR to fixing license plate resets in Hide and Seek, the patch brings valuable tweaks to enhance the player experience. Additionally, five new achievements will be added to the popular Hide and Seek mode, further extending its appeal.

Players Excited, but Some Want More

While the Back to the 90s update is widely welcomed, some fans feel the nostalgia could have gone further. The exclusion of 90s-themed music—something Forza’s Retrowave update embraced—has left a few players wanting more. However, the combination of new cars, themed events, and the return of Horizon Backstage has generated plenty of excitement within the community.
