If you have used the Cash App mobile payment service in the last six years, you might be entitled to a payout of up to $2,500. This opportunity arises from a proposed $15 million class-action settlement alleging that Cash App and its parent company, Block, failed to safeguard user accounts against unauthorized access.
The lawsuit claims that Block and Cash App were negligent in protecting user data. Notably, a former Cash App Investing employee accessed account information without permission in 2022. Furthermore, an unauthorized user exploited recycled phone numbers to access certain accounts in 2023.
Who Qualifies for a Settlement Payout?
You may be eligible to file a claim if any of the following criteria apply to you between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024:
- Current or Former Users: Your personal information, Cash App account, or Investing account was accessed or obtained without your consent.
- Unauthorized Transactions: You experienced unauthorized or fraudulent withdrawals or transfers of funds.
- Unresolved Errors: You faced deficiencies in the resolution of errors in your Cash App or linked financial accounts.
